School for life
Based in Chiang Mai province in Northern Thailand, the School for Life was established in 2003 by Khun Thaneen “Joy” Worrawittayakun and Prof. Dr. Juergen Zimmer. It is located in the mountains of the Doi Saket, about a 45 minute drive from the City of Chiang Mai.
The School for Life provides a home and education for children in difficult circumstances focusing particularly on:
• AIDS orphans without relatives or with relatives below the poverty line;
• Tsunami orphans and survivors;
• Orphans of the drug-war in Thailand;
• Children without access to their parents, e.g. parents sentenced to life imprisonment;
• Children who were forced into child-labour;
• Children from mountain tribes within Thailand who do not have access to formal education.
